Administration: Dr. Jacqueline Olivier joined the New Village family in July of 2007 as Head of School. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in Spanish and Linguistics, she began her career in education in the Los Angeles Unified School District where she was a bilingual elementary school teacher for eight years. During this time she won the Shiny Apple teacher award, and completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies, receiving her credential in School Administration. She took a 5 year break to spend time with her young children; during these years she founded an after-school program called the Homework Club that quickly was emulated by many schools. After a project developing curriculum for Carlthorp School in Santa Monica, she became the Academic Dean and later the Assistant Head of School at this prestigious, academic independent Kindergarten through Grade 6 school in Santa Monica. After finishing her Doctor of Education at Pepperdine University, “Dr. Jacquie” took a position as Head of School at the Gillispie School in La Jolla, which is an independent, accredited elementary and early childhood school, widely recognized as a leading school in technology, innovative practices and sustainability. During her tenure at the Gillispie School, the school was recognized nationally by the National Association of Independent Schools with the Leading Edge Award in Technology. She currently serves as a board member on the Coalition of Apple Lighthouse Schools. Dr. Jacquie loves children, traveling, working, yoga, music and books.
